Arrival information
Maps, driving directions, and motel addresses and telephone numbers are
listed on the travel
and motel information page. If you have requested transportation
from the Toledo Airport to Bowling Green, Hanfeng
Chen (hchen@bgnet.bgsu.edu)
will contact you by email in the next few days to let you know the details.
The Best Western and Days Inn serve continental breakfasts in the morning.
The Quality Inn does not, but there is a Bob Evans restaurant just east
of there (close to I-75) and several fast-food restaurants along Wooster
Street.
All sessions take place in Olscamp
Hall, whose location is shown on the map on the travel
and motel information page. Registration and the Inaugural take
place in Olscamp 111, located in the west wing of the building. Registration
runs from 8:00 -9:30 AM Friday and the Inaugural will begin at 9:30 AM.
The first coffee break will be at 10:00 AM Friday. Registration materials
will be available here throughout the Symposium for those who arrive late.
Olscamp Hall is roughly a 15-minute walk from the furthest motel, the
Quality Inn. You may wish to check the local
weather forecast before you leave on your trip.
If you drive to campus, be aware that it is necessary to obtain a parking
pass for Friday, but not for Saturday and Sunday. You can get one
by stopping at the Visitors' Center shown on the campus map on the travel
and motel information page. Tell them you're here for the Lukacs
(LU-kotch) Symposium. They will provide you with a campus map and
directions to the appropriate parking lot, most likely Lot R just north
of the cemetery. On Saturday and Sunday you may park in Lot N off
of Ridge Street.
At registration you will receive the final program of the sessions,
a copy of the abstracts and biosketches, and a packet of local information.
There are several places on campus to have lunch Friday. These
are within easy walking distance. Dinner Friday is on your own; we
will provide a list of recommended restaurants. Many of these are
easiest to get to by car. After dinner there is a mixer at Kaufman's
at the Lodge.
The invited talks will conclude by 12:30 PM Sunday and contributed talks
by 4:00 PM Sunday.
Registration
There is a $150 registration fee for every participant (student fee: $75)
to cover materials, organization, the mixer, the banquet, and coffee breaks.
One-day registration is also possible at one third the fee for those in
the near vicinity of Bowling Green. Please be sure to register by
Friday, April 16.
To register, mail or email your name, postal address, email address,
institutional affiliation, and department to Cyndi Patterson at the address

Transportation
Detailed information is requested in order to aid transportation between
the airports and Bowling Green. There is no public transportation
available. A car will also be useful (but by no means essential)
for transportation to and from events in the evening.
Please email the following information to Hanfeng
Chen (hchen@bgnet.bgsu.edu):
-
your arrival and departure times and your mode of travel
-
if flying, the airport, airline, flight number, times of arrival and departure,
and an indication of whether you can offer or use a ride to or from the
airport
The Toledo airport is about 30 miles north-west of Bowling Green.
It is possible to rent a car there and it would be helpful if people could
offer rides. Rental agencies are Avis, Budget, Hertz, and National.
Hanfeng Chen will organize a shuttle bus to make some trips to the airport
on Thursday and Sunday. Times will be scheduled once arrival times
are known. Hanfeng's telephone number is +1-419-372-7463. One can
also take a taxi to Bowling Green by asking at the counter upon your arrival.
The one-way cost is about $40.
The Detroit airport is about 75 miles north of Bowling Green.
From there, one can easily rent a car and drive to Bowling Green; see the
travel information below. It is also possible to arrange a taxi,
but this costs about $75 each way. The host is unable to operate
a shuttle to Detroit.
Hotel Reservation
Every participant in the symposium is responsible for making their own
individual hotel reservation by contacting the hotel directly as given
in the Local Information that follows.
