"Do we gain mathematics knowledge with evolving
		technological tools?"
Abstract: Speaker will explore three examples in this talk. One is an
optimization problem of finding the shortest distance between two
non-intersecting curves in 2D or surfaces in 3D. The second is the
converse of Mean-ValueTheorem and the third is the limit problem
that is mentioned in a James Stewart Calculus text book. Speaker
generalizes the results to 3D.
It will be shown that dynamic geometry software packages in
2D and 3D provide us invaluable insight when making conjectures; the
computer algebra system such as Maple provides further symbolic and
algebraic analysis. From this presentation, audience will appreciate that
new technological tools today make learning, teaching and research in
mathematics fun, accessible, challenging and also theoretical. It is
fair to say that the results mentioned in this talk would not have been
realized without current technological tools.
