How To Use CourseCompass and MyMathLab

CourseCompass is a program similar to Blackboard that Pearson Addison-Wesley (the textbook company) has set up for you. It has video lessons, sample homework assignments, quizzes, tests, etc. It has an interactive program that will help you (in several ways) do a problem step-by-step. It is a wonderful program that I highly recommend.

What you need to access CourseCompass:

1. Valid Email Address: This could be your BGSU email address or any other valid email address. Pearson Addison-Wesley will not sell or give your email address to anyone so you do not have to worry about spam.

2. Course ID: If your instructor has set up a course please get your instructor's course ID from him or her. If your instructor has not set up a course you can access the general course using the following course ID:

Course ID: darke64520

3. Student Access Kit (Access Code): You will need a "student access kit" which comes with any new textbook purchased at BGSU's bookstore. We have asked Pearson Addison-Wesley to bundle it with the new book which they have done free of charge. It is also available as a standalone item which can be purchased for $52.50 by clicking on http://mymathlab.com/buying.html

How to Register:

Once you have the three items above you can register by clicking on the link above or http://www.coursecompass.com then click on "Register" and follow the directions. It is fairly simple and straight-forward. However, if you have any problems registering you can "take a tour" by clicking on http://info.coursecompass.com/website/stu_tour2005/index.html. If you still are having problems registering call 1-800-677-6337.

After Registering:

After you have registered for CourseCompass, you need to download the plug-ins for MyMathLab. To do this, click on your class then click on "MyMathLab Installation Wizard" which is in the first announcement. The wizard will walk you through downloading five items:
1) MathXL Player
2) TestGen Plug-in
3) QuickTime
4) Flash Player
5) Acrobat Reader

Lastly, I highly recommend you take 10-15 minutes to run through the tutorial called "How to Enter Answers Using the MathXL Player". There is a link to it in the second announcement.
